Delicious Afternoon Tea, Excellent Service and Lovely Surroundings
My husband and I, together with two friends, took advantage of a voucher offer for afternoon tea at Studley Castle. The hotel is beautiful outside and in, and the room where we ate was really nice, with beautiful views over the countryside. When I booked, in addition to two regular Lady Warwick afternoon teas, I requested a gluten free option for my friend and a Gentleman’s savoury option for my husband. On the morning of our visit, I also called to ask if I could have a substitute for cheese and the staff member I spoke to was very obliging. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious, as were the scones and cakes. The two Lady Warwick teas were on one stand to share and we had more than enough between us, the Gentleman’s tea was really good, and my friend, who had the gluten free option, has asked me to say how much she enjoyed hers. She was very pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the gluten free bread and cakes. The member of staff who served us was very friendly and efficient. She regularly came to us to check whether we needed more tea. It was a real treat and definitely one to repeat in the future.
We have visited Studley Castle three times now and it hasn’t been open for a full year as yet. Studley is a place that draws you in on each visit. Although the Warner Hotel format is obviously present, it somehow has more to offer. It’s difficult to put into words what the atmosphere of the place is like, there is a difference in comparison to the other hotels in the Warner group.
The main castle building is fantastic, and the modern annex is a sympathetic addition. The views are great and the setting is tranquil. An ideal chill-out destination.
The young staff are really on the ball and are very efficient. The booking-in process has been made sleeker than our first visit, but that was no big deal. The food selection/choice was good and cannot fault it in any way.
Entertainment was very much Warner. This is one area that is being worked upon because Warner know that the age groups that are now starting to visit are getting younger. Because of this transient trend, entertainment, especially the music acts, are changing to keep abreast of demand.
Well done Studley.
